Shop Small, Shop Coastal

Nov 6, 2022 | Winter

Find a gift that’s unique and fun for your loved ones this year. Pacific County is a place governed by tides, surrounded by natural beauty, and supported by one-of-a-kind small businesses. Every dollar spent in these cozy coastal and river towns has a big impact on our communities.

That’s why we want to invite you to skip the big box stores and the crowded shopping malls this year. Instead, spend your money where it makes a difference and discover one-of-a-kind small town goods that you can’t get anywhere else.

As an added bonus, you get to enjoy all the natural wonder the coast affords (plus some seriously mouthwatering local food).

  1. Find unique gifts at local galleries and shops.

Trust us, what you find here will outperform scented candles and never end up in the back of a closet. So, whether you’re looking for coastal dècor or quirky gifts, our local shops have a little something for just about anyone.

Visit art galleries and studios for original artwork, prints and jewelry from talented local artists. For the eclectic treasure hunters in your life, you’ll find plenty of antique and thrift stores to browse with all sorts of coastal and unique finds.

  1. Give the gift of experience.

If you’ve been to the peninsula and explored Pacific County, you know just how magical and relaxing this place is. Why not give someone you love a chance to experience it too?

Gift a massage, a fishing trip or even a weekend away at one of your favorite places to stay. Most businesses offer gift certificates that make it easy to share a little bit of beach with friends and family.

And, if you really want to take it to the next level, be sure to add a dinner for two at one of the area’s local restaurants. Our chefs love to source local and regional ingredients like Dungeness crab, salmon and Willapa Bay oysters.

  1. Make spirits bright with craft beverages.

For lovers of beer, wine and spirits, pick up award-winning craft beverages for stocking stuffers and holiday parties. (You can always try before you buy as well.)

North Jetty Brewing has growlers available as well as freshly-filled 16 oz. cans and select bottles of beer. Adrift Distillers has liqueurs, gin, whiskey and more available as well as holiday gift packs. Swing by the WooHoo Winery tasting room in Raymond for your Washington wine lovers.

You can also check out Willapa Brewing in South Bend for more beer and Wild Man Brewing in Raymond for mead.

  1. Oysters, crab and smoked salmon—need we say more?

Our seafood markets have countless options for seafood lovers and oyster fanatics. There’s just something special about getting seafood from the source, and it makes terrific gifts for anyone who enjoys coastal flavors.

You might want to grab extra for yourself while you’re there!

  1. Create an adventure gift basket.

Know anyone who would rather be outside no matter the weather?

Just add one part Discover Pass for Washington State Parks, a few nights at a campground, a map of the peninsula’s 8.5-mile Discovery Trail (available through the Visitors Bureau, that’s us!) and all the outdoor fun their heart desires

Bike riding, horseback riding, surfing, paddling, fishing—you get the point! Pacific County is an outdoor wonderland just begging to be explored.

  1. Give your history buffs a gift to geek out over.

Pacific County is home to ten, yes TEN, museums and interpretive centers. From Chinook heritage and Lewis & Clark’s journey to maritime wonders and local stories, it’s an area with layers of historical significance.

Pick up a juicy historical read from one of our independent bookstores and add a few choice bookmarks (we’re talking about museum passes, of course!).

Bonus: Pick up something for your best friend, too! Oceanside Animal Clinic and Dennis Company have lots of toys and tasty treats that your good boy will love.
