I don't have access to the source site for these images, but are we sure that they remain on that site, still without any notice that they are exceptions to NOIRLab's usual licensing? If not, these could well have come from a contractor who did not authorize that license, and NOIRLab may have had no authority to license them. - Jmabel ! talk 17:37, 7 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Jmabel I suppose it could be possible but I didn't see any evidence of that. If we find files made by a contractor we can deal with those separately Gbawden (talk) 06:32, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
So were you able to access the source site and see whether these are still there or were taken down? And if they were there, did they say anything about licensing? - 06:39, 8 January 2024 (UTC)
Files like File:Giant Magellan Telescope G-CLEF instrument (7815 gmto INST GCLEF 0001).jpg were no longer available at source but clearly state CC BY in the exif. On balance of probabilities this file is what it says it is - CC BY. If you feel I made a mistake please re-nominate the files so others can comment Gbawden (talk) 06:55, 8 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

My Wikipedia Uploads Deletion[edit]

Hello @Gbawden I will like to inquire why you nominated my uploads for deletion. It is a free image which was created by me. I snapped and edited those pictures. Please let me know why you think this pictures should be deleted. Thank you. Jayofpedia (talk) 07:49, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Jayofpedia Hi. I explained in the deletion request. please comment there and provide that you did take them as claimed Gbawden (talk) 15:13, 13 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

ALHENA 2023 JCH.jpg - deletion[edit]

Hello. I would like to ask you about deleting the file "ALHENA 2023 JCH.jpg". An understandable copyright concern has been raised due to the automatic tag. It was explained by me, authorship was proven, previous publication on social media was indicated, and most importantly, it was demonstrated that this photo was made available in the band's publicly available presspack under an open license. So why was the photo deleted?... Quantor (talk) 21:13, 16 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

@Quantor I saw no evidence of a CC license. If you submitted permission via VRT they can be undeleted when permission is confirmed. If you think I missed something please enlighten me Gbawden (talk) 05:54, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @Gbawden. Yes, I'am affraid you missed.
* Here is the photo published on social media with the appropriate license statement (I provided the link earlier): https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=729317442538206&set=a.122354146567875
* Here is a presspack with this photo inside, after unfolding there is information that the entire package is under a free license: https://alhenaband.com/download/?lang=en
These are the most important ones and this was clearly mentioned in the discussion. Quantor (talk) 16:39, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Quantor I don't agree with your claims but I have requested undeletion so someone else can review your claims and my decision Gbawden (talk) 18:17, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@Gbawden Thank you. I appreciate that.
The rights to these deleted materials were really settled from the very beginning (the band is aware of these issues, after all, this is what they make a living from). Moreover, I am the author of one of the deleted photos. ;)
One more thing: May I know what exactly raises your doubts? I will be happy to clarify any confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Quantor (talk • contribs) 17:02, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Commons talk:Questionable Flickr images[edit]

Any idea what is causing the error? I see you have responded to all the edit requests and they're still open? ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:46, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I mean, I tried to close one section, the tool commented on another section. I suppose this happens because of any uneven markup. Perhaps move the introductory part out of the talk page? ─ The Aafī (talk) 17:50, 23 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@TheAafi Hi. Do you mean not archiving? It might be because I didn't add {{Section resolved|1=~~~~}}. Lets see if that works Gbawden (talk) 06:04, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No. I don't refer to archiving. Edit requests usually come with some script options such as "Mark as done", and when it is clicked, the script adds a done remark and changes the status of the request. Here, I clicked done on a very different section, but the script edited on a very different section that appears at the top. It did happen with me previously and I felt this was due to uneven markup. See this, where I was responding to a different section. ─ The Aafī (talk) 06:37, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @Gbawden, why this? A permission had been given and is visible in the information section of the file description. – Cheers, Mussklprozz (talk) 11:18, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Having read the uploader's discussion page now, I agree that there are serious doubts about his ownership. I therefore restored your version and withdrew the permission badge. Mussklprozz (talk) 13:41, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
The permission is valid, comes from the official contact address on the organization's page: see https://orleans.abm.fr/non-categorise/adresse.html. Sorry for the confusion. Mussklprozz (talk) 14:07, 25 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

"File talk:Yamamoto Heikichi.jpg". — Preceding unsigned comment was added by 79.35.64.243 (talk) 12:14, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]

I have no idea what you wish me to do with this Gbawden (talk) 12:18, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
To delete "File:Yamamoto Heikichi.jpg" because the duplicare "File:Yamamoto Heikichi (1913).jpg" is very better. 87.14.238.131 12:20, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I think we can keep both - useful to have the original with the text for reference Gbawden (talk) 12:28, 29 January 2024 (UTC)Reply[reply]
