Deletion messages[edit]
You are getting messages about deletions because you either modified or uploaded an image that has been tagged for deletion. In the case of File:Nataliadpg8 (cropped).jpg, and File:Natalia (Belgian singer).jpg, these are images that you cropped from another image. You are the uploader of these images because it looks like you used the crop tool to crop and upload these as new images. The original image was a copyright violation, and so the cropped images you created need to also be deleted because the original uploader provided a false license. -- Whpq (talk) 14:08, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Presidential portraits[edit]
Please do not tag obviously old paintings (such as File:Presidential portrait of Franklin Pierce.jpg) as copyvio, even if the copyright tag is incorrect. Instead, you are welcome to replace the copyright tag with the correct one. -- King of ♥ ♦ ♣ ♠ 16:40, 18 June 2022 (UTC)
The two versions of File:Syafiq Kyle for ReChannel.jpg[edit]
In this edit you wrote "This file is an exact duplicate or scaled-down version of: File:Syafiq Kyle for ReChannel, stretched.jpg There should be only one exact copy of a file. After replacing all instances with the preferred file, this file will be speedily deleted." Please look again.

File:Syafiq Kyle for ReChannel, stretched.jpg

File:Syafiq Kyle for ReChannel.jpg
I humbly propose these are not exact duplicates. The second is the original, while the first is my edit to it because as far as I know, Syafiq Kyle is not wider than he is tall, so I stretched it upwards a bit, to my best guess. --GRuban (talk) 19:57, 8 July 2022 (UTC)

Question about File:Yoshihiko Noda 20110902.jpg[edit]
Hello. I have some questions about File:Yoshihiko Noda 20110902.jpg and relevant file. You have reverted the file at Special:Diff/786904442 ("former") and Special:Diff/786904368 ("latter"). Regarding the former, you left a comment "better before"; I cannot grasp how this is better than before. I have reverted to the "03:17, 23 February 2020 (UTC)" version because it was uploaded first as new version, which had the same resolution as the previous one had, and I thought it was the closest portrait to the original. To me, those files' differences seem to be just subtle different colours and the file size. Could you explain what improvements you have made to that image? Regarding the latter, basically, my point is the same as the former, but I have another point to make. Japanese Wikipedia uses such cropped portraits on pages like ja:内閣総理大臣の一覧. On this page, as is customary, about 3:4 cropped images are used for portraits of post-WW2 prime ministers. Therefore, I wanted to standardise the aspect ratio of the images, but the current File:Yoshihiko Noda 20110902 (cropped).jpg is 730 × 1011 and not 3:4. So please understand that the image should be in that ratio. Thank you. --TKsdik8900 (talk) 08:33, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Hi, i just thought the colors looked more natural but its really not that important to me, so go ahead and revert it again if you like --FMSky (talk) 08:40, 26 July 2023 (UTC)
- Thank you for your prompt response to my question. I am sorry for bothering you. --TKsdik8900 (talk) 08:54, 26 July 2023 (UTC)

File tagging File:DJ Envy (cropped).jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:DJ Envy (cropped).jpg. This media is missing permission information. A source is given, but there is no proof that the author or copyright holder agreed to license the file under the given license. Please provide a link to an appropriate webpage with license information, or ask the author or copyright holder to send an email with copy of a written permission to VRT (permissions-commons@wikimedia.org). You may still be required to go through this procedure even if you are the author yourself; please see Commons:But it's my own work! for more details. After you emailed permission, you may replace the {{No permission since}} tag with {{subst:PP}} on file description page. Alternatively, you may click on "Challenge speedy deletion" below the tag if you wish to provide an argument why evidence of permission is not necessary in this case.
Please see this page for more information on how to confirm permission, or if you would like to understand why we ask for permission when uploading work that is not your own, or work which has been previously published (regardless of whether it is your own). The file probably has been deleted. If you sent a permission, try to send it again after 14 days. Do not re-upload. When the VRT-member processes your mail, the file can be undeleted. Additionally you can request undeletion here, providing a link to the File-page on Commons where it was uploaded ([[:File:DJ Envy (cropped).jpg]] ) and the above demanded information in your request. |

Hello FM -- Do you have another, better, source for this file? Your new upload has higher resolution than the previous versions, but the contrast is too extreme. The highlights of the new version are blown and the eyes almost disappear into the shadows of the eye sockets. All things considered, I think the lower res version may be the more satisfactory image. -- WikiPedant (talk) 07:06, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- @WikiPedant: Hi, no i looked all over the place, this was the only one i could find. i still think its an improvement over the tiny original. i already tried to tweak the contrast a bit but this is the best i was able to do. maybe you could give it a try, i got the file from here https://i.pinimg.com/originals/2b/fe/47/2bfe47f86efd4160cdaadc6dcca0ca8b.jpg FMSky (talk) 21:34, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks, FM. I downloaded the original file. I'm not sure how much can be done with it; you can't really recover detail that just isn't there any more. But I'm curious and will take a run at it. May not get to it until after Christmas. Regards -- WikiPedant (talk) 05:34, 12 December 2023 (UTC)
- OK, I took a run at it. Comparing the original web version to the one you uploaded here, I can see that you did improve it significantly with your contrast adjustment. I dialled the overall contrast down a little more and dialled down the saturation which IMO was contributing to the contrastiness (or, contrasty-nastiness) too. Then I added a pinch of black back to some of the blacks. And I also did some extra work on those deep, dark eye sockets. I didn't replace your cropped version. Just decide for yourself if you approve of my full-size version and go from there. (I will not be the least bit offended if you decide to revert it.) Best -- WikiPedant (talk) 04:34, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- Yes looks pretty good, the eyes are a lot better visible now. I think this version should be a improvement now over the small original FMSky (talk) 10:08, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
- I agree. When I was working on it, I realized that the difference in resolution between your upload and the small previous version was even more pronounced than I had thought. You can really see it, for example, in a magnified view of the dial of his watch. Nice work! It was good working with you on this. Thanks for the opportunity. -- WikiPedant (talk) 18:40, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
