Pacific County Tourism Bureau Names Katja Spitz Executive Director

LONG BEACH PENINSULA, Wash.–October 2022–The Pacific County Tourism Bureau (PCTB, dba Visit Long Beach Peninsula), the destination marketing, management and development organization serving Washington’s Long Beach Peninsula and Greater Pacific County, has appointed Katja Spitz, CTA as its new executive director. The announcement was made by Nancy Gorshe, board chair.

“It is with great pleasure and excitement that we announce our new Executive Director,” said Gorshe. “Katja’s prior experience and skillset matched up perfectly with the key things the Pacific County Tourism Bureau’s executive board identified to take our organization to the next level and ensure ongoing success in building a sustainable destination – tourism expertise including convention and visitor bureau experience, proven leadership and management skills, fiscal acumen, and a strong work ethic.

“We look forward to seeing great things from Katja as she leads Pacific County’s tourism industry through these dynamic times.”

As Executive Director, Spitz will report directly to PCTB’s Executive Board and Board of Directors. She will be responsible for leading the organization’s destination marketing, management and development initiatives. She will hold primary accountability for the accomplishments and fiscal integrity of the organization and be tasked with building the Bureau’s capacity, acting as its spokesperson and representing it before others locally, within the state and beyond. Her start date is November 21, 2022.

Spitz brings extensive domestic and global travel industry experience to her new role from a decade working in and promoting Las Vegas and its tourism assets. She gained entrepreneurial experience as the founder of an outdoor adventure tour company and excelled at building and maintaining relationships within her current community, with board members and partners, with stakeholders, and with the greater tourism industry. She also proved herself adept as a salesperson, spokesperson and as a manager, having hired, trained and motivated direct reports, teams, and support staff.

Prior to taking the position with PCTB, Spitz owned and operated Artemis Adventure Tours, a specialty tour company for the greater Las Vegas area. Before that, she was an International Market Executive with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, where she was responsible for six global offices tasked with promoting drive destination sales and marketing through leisure tourism, public relations and airline partnerships.

Spitz is relocating from Las Vegas to the southwestern-most corner of the State of Washington to take the position and will be working from Pacific County Tourism Bureau’s Seaview office, which is located on the Long Beach Peninsula.

A native of Sweden, she is an outdoor enthusiast and an avid kayaker, dog lover, and licensed search and rescue volunteer. She is fluent in English, French and Swedish.
