Pacific County Tourism Bureau Announces Exciting Partnership with Fill it Forward to Promote Sustainable Tourism

Pacific County, Wash. – September 6, 2023 – The Pacific County Tourism Bureau (dba Visit Long Beach Peninsula) is thrilled to announce its values-aligned partnership with Fill it Forward, a global sustainability initiative aimed at fostering positive environmental and social change through conscious consumer behavior. This collaboration marks another step forward in promoting sustainable tourism practices and encouraging responsible travel within the stunning landscapes of Pacific County.

With a deep commitment to the preservation of the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage of oyster farming, fishing, and logging, the Pacific County Tourism Bureau is dedicated to ensuring that both visitors and locals can enjoy the breathtaking coastal landscapes, charming communities, and diverse ecosystems for generations to come.

Fill it Forward is renowned for its groundbreaking approach to sustainability, which empowers individuals to make a tangible impact by simply refilling and reusing their beverage containers. By partnering with Fill it Forward, the Pacific County Tourism Bureau aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing single-use plastic waste and, through example, encourage travelers to adopt eco-friendly habits during and beyond their stay.

Phase one of the project is a mailing to key people who have supported the destination. Each will be provided with specially designed reusable bottles embedded with a unique QR code. This code enables participants to track the positive environmental and social contributions they make by refilling their bottles, such as gallons of water saved and charitable donations earned.

“We are incredibly excited about this partnership with Fill it Forward,” said Katja Spitz, executive director, Pacific County Tourism Bureau. “By joining forces, we are taking another meaningful step toward promoting responsible travel practices and encouraging our visitors to actively contribute to the preservation of our environment and community. We believe that small actions can lead to significant change, and this partnership exemplifies our dedication to creating a more sustainable and resilient future for Pacific County.”

The partnership between the Pacific County Tourism Bureau and Fill it Forward aligns with the global movement to reduce plastic waste, protect natural resources, and support local communities. By embarking on this journey together, both organizations are setting an inspiring example for the travel and tourism industry, showcasing how collaboration can lead to positive change that benefits both people and the planet.

“Fill it Forward is on a mission to inspire the world to reuse,” said Allan Babor, Director of Global Giving & Communications. “Every time you reuse, we celebrate the positive environmental impact and help give back to clean water projects that are making a difference. Taking care of our natural heritage is critical and impactful partnership will help engage visitors who want to help create sustainable solutions.”
