The last Saturday in April marks the annual Black Lake Fishing Derby. Now entering its 28th year, this event for children ages 2-14 features a free pancake breakfast and a hot dog tent. Registration is free for this event hosted by Ilwaco Parks and Recreation. The derby runs from 7-11 a.m., and awards are given for the largest fish caught in each age division and overall aggregate weight.
