Event offers opportunity to meet and have books signed by over 40 regional writers

LONG BEACH, Wash. – October 2017 – Over 40 authors representing multiple genres will be selling and signing their work at the first annual Books at the Beach Authors Showcase & Book Fair. Free to the public, the event will take place from 11AM to 4PM at the Long Beach Elks Club, 110 N. Pacific Ave., Long Beach.

“We’re excited by the enthusiastic response from a diverse and exceptional group of regional authors,” said Ragan Myer, Tourism & Events Coordinator, City of Long Beach. “Anyone attending will find many of the books flavored by Northwest elements making them great gifts and a good read.”

Among the books being sold at Books at the Beach will be children’s books, cookbooks, mysteries, autobiographies, romance, science fiction, and many more.

Some of the more notable authors include the following: Irene Martin, recipient of the Governor’s Heritage Award; Brian D. Ratty, award-winning author of five historical fiction novels; and Heidi Renee Mason, international best-selling author of character-driven fiction. Popular local author and radio host, Tim Murphy will bring several in his series of guy friendly Flannel John’s Cookbooks.

Other events happening on the weekend of October 7 and 8 are the Peninsula Arts Association Fall Show (Oct. 7 to 9); One Sky, One World Kite Fly for Peace (Oct. 7 and 8) and the Wild Mushroom Celebration (Oct. 1 through Nov. 15). Later in the month, hear world-class performances at the Water Music Festival (Oct. 13 to 15) and experience cranberry harvest firsthand at the Cranberrian Fair (Oct. 14 and 15).
