The main attraction to the area is also FREE! Twenty-eight miles of silver sand beach is always available to beachcomb, build a sand sculpture, fly kites, take a leisurely walk, or have a picnic on the sand. Please always observe the safety recommendation whenever you’re near the Pacific Ocean.
Recreation
Rent some bikes and take a leisurely ride on the 8-mile long paved Discovery Trail. You can also go zip lining, horseback riding on the beach, or hike the art-walk at the Willapa Bay Interpretive Center, which is only a .75 of a mile loop and suitable for all ages.
Museums and Historical Places
People have been enjoying the Long Beach Peninsula for thousands of years, and the rich history is intriguing. The many museums in the area are jam-packed with cool stuff sure to fascinate the entire family. The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center, Cranberry Museum, and Middle Village-Station Camp are favorites. Also, don’t forget Marsh’s Free Museum, where you can see sideshow style attractions such as an eight-legged lamb, full-sized Wildebeest, and Jack the Alligator Man.
Sports
Family sports are a super way to get a little exercise while having a great time. You might want to shoot some hoops, play a round of tennis or pickleball with the kids, or swim at the Dune’s pool. If your kids are teenagers, they might enjoy paddle boarding or kayaking. You can also toss a Frisbee or play with a beach ball while relaxing at the beach.

Everyone loves a good play, live music, or a professional comedian. The Waikiki Beach Concert Series and Summer Fest provide lots of live music appropriate for kids of all ages. Plus, the Long Beach Peninsula and greater Pacific County are full of family-friendly venues for theater or music. From the Raymond Theater to the Peninsula Arts Center and River City Playhouse, there are plenty of talented performers ready to entertain you.
Rides and Arcade
Ready for a thrill? Check out the carnival rides in downtown Long Beach! You’ll find bumper cars, a colorful carousel, and tilt-a-whirl ready to make you scream in delight. There is also a large arcade and candy store loaded with tasty treats. Race around the go-kart track or play a round of put-put golf while you’re at it.
Main Events
There are tons of super fun events all year long. Check out the sand sculptures at Sandsations, watch the bucking broncos at the annual rodeo, or try your luck at the Black Lake Fishing Derby. Of course, there is always razor clam digging season, which runs from October to May and is a cherished family tradition.
